Environmental Sustainability and Our Triathlon

At the Brighton and Hove Triathlon we know how important the sea is - we swim in it most days after all - and we don't want to see it filled up with plastic.  Which is why we are once again working with Riz Boardshorts to reduce the environmental impact of our race.  Last year Riz Boardshorts turned our unwanted race plastic into beautiful swim shorts, and as well as doing the same this year they have kindly offered our supporters a discount code - RIZCYCLE - to use in their on-line store here

As well as turning plastic into swimming shorts we are also reducing the total amount of plastic we use by supplying compostable cups for runners.

We are aware of the environmental impact of races in Brighton and we would encourage all of our athletes and spectators to pick up after themselves where possible.  Littering on the bike course remains against British Triathlon Federation rules and we will supply waste bags at the water stations to capture all used plastic and compostable cups.

From Riz Boardshorts

"The idea behind the brand has always been to design ‘the most beautiful and environmental boardshorts in the world’. By only producing one product, men’s swim shorts, it has allowed us to us to perfect one thing. This pursuit of perfection is part of our ethos. What we’ve realised along the journey, is that perhaps a brand can also inspire positive change - both a greater appreciation for the natural world and also a shift in consumer behaviour."
